What’s New for Community Cats in 2026

A New Name. A New Platform. The Same Commitment to Helping Cats.

Each year, we take a moment to reflect on what’s changed, what’s grown, and what’s ahead for the community cat movement. As we step into 2026, we’re excited to share some big updates with you and changes that reflect both how far we’ve come and where we’re going.

This year, our mission remains the same: to support and educate individuals working to improve the lives of community cats. But now, we’re doing it with even more tools, flexibility, and reach than ever before.

Welcome to Community Cats Central

The Community Cats Podcast has been a trusted voice in the movement for years, and it still is. But as our programs, resources, and educational opportunities have expanded, we realized that the name “podcast” no longer fully captured everything we offer.

That’s why, in 2026, we introduced Community Cats Central, a name that better reflects who we are today: a central hub for education, connection, and support for everyone working to help community cats.

The podcast that started it all isn’t going anywhere. It remains an integral part of our work and continues to be a source of stories, insights, and interviews with leaders across the animal welfare world. Now, it lives within the larger Community Cats Central ecosystem, alongside a new learning platform, growing event offerings, and more ways to engage with the content and community you value.

More Learning, More Flexibility: Education for Every Level

We’ve moved our training to a brand-new learning platform that makes it easier than ever to access expert guidance on caring for community cats. Whether you’re managing a TNR program, coordinating volunteers, or just starting out with a small colony, our courses meet you where you are.

We continue to offer all the core content and events we’ve offered for years, such as:

  • Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) Certification Workshops
  • Colony management best practices
  • Webinars on critical topics facing the field such as surrender prevention
  • The Cat Conference, The Kitten Conference, and The United Spay Alliance Conference
  • Feline Summits on Infectious Diseases and Behavior
  • Community Cat Program Management Certification from Benerd College at University of the Pacific

Plus, we now also host courses from other instructors in the field – check out the brand new Cat First Aid & CPR Certification from Arden Moore and the Working Cat Relocation 101 course from Mary Scott! These offerings will grow, with focus on program development, volunteer management, outreach, board governance, and more!

These expanded offerings are part of our ongoing commitment to build a learning ecosystem that supports both individual caregivers and large-scale community cat programs. Stay tuned because we’ll be rolling out more in the coming months.

Events, Conferences, and the Community Cats Pass

Our commitment to community and collaboration is as strong as ever. As mentioned, we will continue to host our popular virtual events and conferences in 2026, including The Cat Conference, The Kitten Conference, One-Day Summits, and other themed gatherings throughout the year. These events remain vital opportunities for education, networking, and idea-sharing among advocates, experts, and organizations of all sizes.

We are focused on delivering meaningful, accessible experiences that support professionals and volunteers alike, and we look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming sessions.

And the Community Cats Pass is more valuable than ever before! With new on-demand options and a growing library, you get to take advantage of everything we have to offer (please note that some offerings that are on the Community Cats Central platform but offered by independent instructors may not be included).

Tools to Support Your Work on the Ground

In addition to education and events, we continue to provide practical tools to support your work with cats and kittens in the field. Available now at communitycatscentral.com, you’ll find:

  • The Community Cat Pyramid – our foundational framework for building a sustainable, community-based cat management program
  • The Cat Calculator – a helpful tool to measure impact and estimate populations
  • A downloadable paper collar template – perfect for friendly strays or lost pets found in the field
  • Still to come – more downloadable resources and guides on everything from colony care to public messaging

We know that helping cats takes more than knowledge; it takes strategy, community support, and the right tools at the right time.

One Website. Many Resources.

You can now find everything we offer in one central location: communitycatscentral.com. This new website is the go-to hub for:

  • Online courses and webinars
  • Podcast episodes
  • Event/conference registration
  • Free resources and guides
  • Certification programs
  • 1:1 Consulting
  • Community tools and support

We’ve streamlined the experience to make it easier to find what you need, when you need it — whether that’s quick training, an in-depth learning track, or the latest episode of the podcast.

Looking Ahead

The evolution from Community Cats Podcast to Community Cats Central reflects what many of you have been telling us for years: this movement is growing. The need for education, connection, and innovation has never been greater and we’re committed to being here for you every step of the way.

Thank you for being a part of this journey. Whether you’ve been with us since the very first podcast episode or are just discovering our work, we’re honored to support your efforts to improve the lives of cats in your community.

Stay connected, keep learning, and we’ll see you at  communitycatscentral.com.

Turning Passion Into Action: Reflections, Challenges & the Future of Community Cat Care Copy link As 2025 comes to a close, I’m taking a moment to reflect on where we’ve been, where we’re going, and the power of leadership in the community cat world. After over 30 years of working in cat welfare—and nearly a decade hosting the Community Cats Podcast—I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come. But we’re not done yet. Today, I want to talk about the heart of what we do, the people who make it happen, and what lies ahead in 2026 as we transition into a new chapter: Community Cats Central.

Why Accessibility Matters in Cat Care: Rethinking the Litter Box
When we think about litter boxes, the conversation usually revolves around the cats themselves: where they like their boxes placed, how often they need cleaning, or what type of litter they prefer. But there’s an overlooked side of the story—the people who care for those cats. For many cat lovers, bending, lifting, and crouching to scoop or clean the litter box isn’t a small task. It’s a real barrier.

The 2026 Colony Sentiment Shift: Stability Is Taking Root
When we compared our 2024 and 2025 Community Cat Colony Sentiment Survey results, we discovered something that made us sit up and take notice—and we think you’ll be just as excited as we are. If you’ve been doing TNR work for any length of time, you know that feeling when someone asks, “But does TNR actually work?” Well, friends, we’ve got some data that might just help you answer that question with a lot more confidence.

Let’s Turn Your Passion for Cats Into Action—Shall We?
Let’s Turn Your Passion for Cats Into Action—Shall We? Copy link At this year’s Humane World for Animals’ Animal Care Expo, Animal Welfare Idol—a high-energy, competition-style session inspired by American Idol—animal welfare professionals from across the country shared how data is changing the way we care for pets and their people. From field services to veterinary access, each presenter brought creativity and passion to the stage. Among them was Stacy, who took a poetic approach to advocate for one transformative goal: 95% of owned cats spayed or neutered.
